Here are instructions for the Reading Clubs:For Children—Children ages 3-12 may sign up at the Children’s desk to take part in the Children’s Reading Club. They read (or are read to) as many hours as they are years old. Each child who signs up gets a reading chart and a bookmark. For children who want to continue reading, they may keep track of their time on white forms we have prepared. For every 10 hours they read beyond their initial goal, they will be entered into a drawing. Prizes for the initial reading program may be claimed between June 15 and August 15 (Children will receive a Texas Reading Club certificate, their choice of a book, and a few coupons). Winners of special prizes will be notified after August 15.
For Teens—Children ages 12-18 may sign up at the Fiction/Young Adult desk to take part in the Teen Reading Club. Each teen gets a reading log on which s/he records what has been read and for how long. They may read 12 hours in order to receive a book or 15 hours in order to receive a book and to have their name entered into a drawing.
Children may choose to be in one reading club or the other, not both. For both programs, readers may complete their goal in order to choose a book only once.
