Recarpeting at the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library, January 3-16

Carpeting throughout the entire Hall Library will be replaced beginning January 2, 2012.  While work is being done in the Fiction, Nonfiction, and Spanish/Genealogy areas, we will have staff available to retrieve items for the public, but the areas will be closed to library patrons.

To help speed the process, the Hall Library will be closed Friday January 13 through Monday January 16 (Martin Luther King, Jr. day). 

The John and Judy Gay Library will be closed Friday, January 13th and the Library’s Staff Development Day will held on that date at JJGL; however, other than this one day, usual service hours will be offered at the John and Judy Gay Library through January.

The below timeline for the Hall Library is subject to change.  There will be signage in the library showing which areas are currently being affected.

Sunday January 1 and Monday January 2

Library closed, with initial recarpeting taking place on the 2nd.

Tuesday January 3 – Wednesday January 4

1st Floor West (Fiction) and 2nd floor Computer Lab

The service desk area will be completed first so that staff can use it on Tuesday to answer the phone and retrieve materials for the public.  DVD’s will be placed on book trucks in the lobby for patron browsing.

Wednesday January 4: The Computer Lab should be completed before opening at 10 AM. 

Thursday January 5th – Friday January 6

2nd Floor West (Computer lab, Spanish, Genealogy, magazines)

 Staff will retrieve Spanish language, Genealogy, newspaper, and periodical materials for the public as needed.  The microfilm machines will not be available until the 2nd floor West wing is completed on the 6th.
Friday January 6: Staff will retrieve Spanish language, Genealogy, newspaper, and periodical materials for the public as needed. 

Saturday January 7 - Sunday January 8

The library will be open regular hours as staff areas are recarpeted.

Monday January 9 – Thursday January 12

2nd Floor East (Nonfiction and Reference)

Staff will retrieve materials for the public as needed.

Friday January 13 – Monday January 16

Hall Library closed

1st Floor East Children’s, Dulaney Room and lobby will be recarpeted.
